What an inspiring morning in 3rd class with Laureate na nÓg and children’s author Patricia Forde. Trish shared where she gets her ideas, read some of her books for us – including her latest book which isn’t even available in shops yet! – and told us the hilarious story of how she first decided to become a writer. It involved an “evil teacher”, a beautiful white horse and a fake cousin in Dublin. Trish answered all of our questions and encouraged us to keep writing, reading and telling stories. We were so inspired by her wonderful workshop that after Trish left, we took out our free writing copies and started writing down our own ideas for stories. A huge thank you to Melissa Campana, the Awards Administrator for Children’s Books Ireland, for arranging our visit from Trish and to Trish for so generously sharing her time and stories with us.
